Empower, Include, Employ
The People Make the Difference
About Us
The Sanctuary Art Center is a collection of art studios providing programs for homeless and underserved youth ages 16-25 in the Greater Seattle area. Founded in 1999, on the principle that creativity is an essential part of the human experience, our goal is to empower and include young people from disenfranchised backgrounds so they may reach their fullest potential.
Many of the youth we serve have experienced significant trauma in their lives. Our programs provide creative outlets so that they may explore their issues, build self-esteem and find a safe path toward healing.
“We are not just one skill, or one fault. We’re many traits over. So remember to always think positive...”
Mission
The mission of the Sanctuary Art Center is to provide a safe, calm and warm environment for homeless and underserved youth and young adults to experience creativity and success through relationship-based artistic programs and employment internships.
Equity
We are committed to racial and social equity by providing employment opportunities for Black Brown, and LGBTQ youth and young adults. We seek partnership with communities and organizations committed to ending systemic racism and gender discrimination.
